No Man is an Island

No Man is an Island

No man is an island - except of course unless he or she is a Christian, right? What is it about us that makes us think we have to hold it in, and pretend everything is okay all the time? Every man and woman needs one or more men or women to help them live the life that we are called to live.

Hebrews 10:23-26 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. 26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

Encourage one another to live out God's love through good works. Come together regularly to encourage one another. This is really important, as the world at large gets worse and worse.

We are not perfect, but when we pretend to be perfect and do not open ourselves to others for help and accountability, then we are really doomed. Pray to God for good close Christian friends, and seek them out. Once you believe you have found one, open up to him or her. Build a relationship of trust and commitment.

Be in a small group, accountability group, or whatever name you may want to call it. It really will help you live a better life. I know, from my own life, what a difference it can make. But don't trust me - trust God. Trust God by trusting others who are trustworthy, just as His word commands
